Cerys has, since childhood, collected, sung and played traditional songs from Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England, and has gone on to share them with audiences worldwide. She remains an avid collector of songs from all over the globe.

Cerys is a columnist for the number one World music magazine 'Songlines', writes reviews and articles for the likes of The Guardian, The Times and Grazia, and is author of children's stories 'Tales From The Deep'. The follow up, 'Gelert, A Man's Best Friend', is due out in 2013. Earlier this year Penguin published 'Hook, Line and Singer', Cerys' collection of singalong classics including personal anecdotes and song histories. Song examples are 'Let's Go Fly A Kite', 'Oh Susannah,' and the 'Tra, La, La Song'.

Cerys played the Isle of Wight and Hay festival in 2012, the latter with a Woody Guthrie tribute show and collaborated with artists such as Arun Ghosh, Tunde Jegede, Attab Haddad, Frank Moon and the London Bulgarian Choir. 2012 also saw her play music from her acclaimed and popular selling collection of Welsh traditional songs 'TIR', with Ballet Cymru, ending in a show in Sadler's Wells, and a nomination for a Theatre Critics Awards 2012.

Cerys will be presenting and performing at the BBC Proms this year. She'll be joined by a few musicians selected for the WOMEX 13 Opening Concert at BBC Late Night Prom at the Albert Hall on 12 August. Prom goers will get a flavor of Wales’s music when Gwenan Gibbard, Patrick Rimes, Mason Neely, Frank Moon and Andy Coughlan join Cerys to get the Hall jigging to the groove and introduce Proms audiences to some old Welsh tunes. The performance will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6 Music.

Cerys is a patron of the Dylan Thomas Society as well as being a judge for the Dylan Thomas literary prize, 2013.
